The Candy Man Can

As part of teaching us some life lessons, Mema bought each of us a very sweet man. We could perfect his features, dress him, and even share our candy with him. (Just like we can do with daddy!)


I gave mine a big smile, but not too big (I still want people to notice ME!)


Then you helped me...

The Grandest of Grandpas (1938-2010)

There are absolutely no words to express how much we will miss Grandpa. That said, given his dedication to and amusement from our blog, we want to dedicate our scribblings to him...


We'll never forget the first time we met him.


As mommy's idol Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift; that's why they call it the present. "


Fortunately "Grampy" taught us so much and will always be with us in our hearts and memories, helping to show us the way. We love you, Grandpa!

What is a Candy-loving Butterflying Ballerina Elephant?

The Jeopardy clue is "Our 2010 family Halloween costume." Hopefully that isn't too backwards for you to follow. Stop talking. We're already behind in our trick-or-treating.


Here's a better view, even if by this point in the evening I was covered in chocolate. That's why I keep my candy in my trunk (HA!).


After an evening of collecting candy, our four legs (and two wings) were thankful for a break.

Grandpa's Little Sprouts

Back in July, I planted some zinnia seeds in a tiny ceramic egg (thanks, Daya!). After just two days, they sprouted.


Grandpa told me that if we wanted them to grow into flowers, we should transplant them into a pot, so we brought them to Mahopac and he planted them. I know all about growing big and strong. Have you felt my muscles?


A few weeks later, Grandpa helped me plant them in the ground. We watered them and loved them and they grew.


Before we knew it, they flowered and flowered and flowered. My zinnias!!


When the summer ended, Mema cut the zinnias for me so that I could enjoy them one more time as a beautiful bouquet!

Park-ing Lots

The playground remains one of our favorite activities. While I'm happy to climb on just about anything, I know you're still too small for some of the structures so we have to find places to play together. Like a swing big enough for the both of us?


Yes, and the big girl swings.


Not to mention the big girl rings, for which you seem to really flip.


We're not just swingers, we're sliders too. There's nothing more fun than sliding into your arms, big sis!


Glad there's always a park-ing space for both of us.

I Lulav You

We were able to celebrate Sukkot with a perfect pair: a lulav and an etrog. It made me think of other things that go well together...

Labor of Love

We spent another great holiday weekend in Mahopac with Daisy and Oscar and Mema and Grandpa. It all started with a yummy Chinese meal. Good thing I learned how to eat (with) chopsticks.


When we went to play golf, daddy said it was important that I learn how to drive. I don't think this is what he meant.


On Sunday morning, we went back to the City to take a swimming lesson.

When we got back, it was like we never left.

US at the US Open

When mommy and daddy said we were going to Queens to sit way up in the air, I assumed we were going to LaGuardia. Turns out this was the only plane we saw:


While Liana took some free tennis lessons, I had a ball at the side of the court.


Even the fun was oversized! Who said I shouldn't make a racquet?


My walking has gotten so much better than it used to be.


Open and shut: this was a great day.

New Class Acts

While we aren't exactly going "back to school" since we've been in school all summer, we made big transitions today. We said goodbye to our teachers and got ready for our new classrooms...



I started blowing bubbles so I could join the Fishies, while you grabbed a banana, climbed a tree and became a Monkey. So far my new classroom is stacking up to be pretty fun...


While my new class had a seat reserved for me - with my name on it and everything!


So far, our new classes get an A+!

Baltimore and more and more...

We went to Fulton, Maryland, for cousin Brent's Bar Mitzvah. He's actually one of my third cousins, which is confusing since we also have six first cousins. But who's counting? Not me, since I don't know how to count yet.

Since we couldn't actually attend the service or the reception, the best part of the weekend was seeing family, including BoMa, BoPa and Nana, and Abi and Melissa who came all the way from California.


Oh, and "eating" Oreo cookies! (Reminds me of a song: "Do you know exactly how to eat an Oreo, yes to do it, you unscrew it..."or maybe you just smoosh it all over your face?)


I got to celebrate my 15 month birthday during our weekend away. Will I get to read from the Torah soon? You probably have to be able to read first (and maybe stop sleeping in a crib), silly sister.


On the way home, we stopped to see Bobo and PopPop in Baltimore.


At their apartment, we were able to "reflect" on what a wonderful family we have.

Jack and Ill

This morning I was still recovering from a cold, but fortunately I was able to get a check-up right in my own room. After I finished rounding on my patient, Daddy took me to the Children's Museum.

First, I learned about the Jack-in-the-Box. But where was Liam's brother? Hopefully not in the box.


It was raining, so we ended up taking a taxi.
