Worst Seat in the House

Mommy and daddy are very particular about not letting me watch TV. There's evidently some research to support it, but I think it's cruel that they turn my bouncy seat so I can't see the Yankees...fortunately my neck muscles are still developing.

The lengths we Weissman girls have to go to in order to watch baseball...upon reflection, it reminds me of my baseball watching in the window when I was a little older than you (here's the full post).

War and Pacie

Today I took a pacifier for the first time. I was such a natural that I even held it in myself. I would have held it in for you, all you had to do was ask.

Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News...

This morning was my one-month doctor's appointment. I weighed 9 pounds 10 ounces and measured 21.5 inches. Liana had planned to come with me for big sisterly moral support...

...but she woke up with a 103 fever, so she got to see Dr. Y for herself.
Don't remind me - this is not what I was promised!

First Birthday

Today I turned one (month). We celebrated by spending the morning with our friend Nora and her parents, Sean and Meeghan, who are visiting from Boston.

We took Nora for some B&B in the garden (bagels and bubbles).

Nora's mommy made me the most spectacular birth(day) present: lovely lilac booties that were just my size.

Then we went to the park where daddy and I went on the swings...

...and I wore my sunglasses as a tribute to mommy.

We ended the day with a walk uptown for ice cream. Some of us didn't get to enjoy the ice cream quite as much as others, but I'm sure it was delicious.

By 11:05 p.m., I was exhausted from a day of celebrating.

What's in a Naming?

Unfortunately since it's a religious service in synagogue, no photos were taken, but this was our family before we officially named Daria. I don't understand, what have you been calling me for the past four weeks?

Grandparents are Great!

I got to sit on two of my three great-grandparents' laps today.

I bring Bobo and PopPop's great-grandchildren total to one dozen.

Yeah, well, I was their tenth great-grandchild. In my book, you are a perfect 10!

Our Family Circle

One of my favorite activities these days is doing Circle Time. It entails singing "hello" to everyone (including mommy, daddy, Daria, me, and whoever else: animals, babies, and whatever inanimate objects I choose to include on a particular night) followed by singing a song chosen by each of the guests in the circle. Tonight my dollhouse family had their own Circle Time. It was a lot easier than when they want to play Ring Around the Rosie or have a catch.

Daria tends to sleep through my fun...

...and even slept her way into her four-week birthday! Hey, I need my beauty rest.

Speaking of beauty, I did not think that bathtime in my bathtub was particularly fun. Too wet for me. Isn't there some other way to get clean that isn't so messy? Yes, but you're too small for a shower. You just wait!

Happy Daddies' Day

Hey, Daria, what do you call the best man in your life?
Daddy.
Yes, that's right. When do you call him?
Any time of the day or night.
While that may be true, he asked me to tell you that he prefers that you do it during waking hours.

Today we had a leisurely day with daddy and then went over to Grandpa's to help him celebrate.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!
To all the daddies, granddaddies, and great-granddaddies in our lives! We love you!!

(Be a) Ham and (Say) "Cheese"

While no one in our house eats the sandwich referenced above, it does describe my little sister in front of the camera. Really? I think my smile is just gas.

Turning 3!

Today we went to Brooklyn to help Daisy celebrate her third birthday.

I thought the party was because I was turning three (weeks). Daisy's birthday isn't until July, so why were we celebrating today?

I think Cinderella was going out of town, so they scheduled the party around her availability.

Little did they know that I could take off my special slipper and be a princess too...

As much fun as I had with the special guest, I thought the cake was a high point of the party.

Me too (though I didn't get to enjoy it for several hours after you and mommy did)!

But the absolutely best part was being with our family. Happy Almost Birthday, Daisy!

Have We Met?

This week I've been introduced to several of mommy and daddy's friends who have lavished me with love and affection:

"Aunt" Julissa

"Uncle" Mike

"Aunt" Harriette

and "Aunt" Diana.

But none of them compares to my big sister. MMWAHH!!!

And You Call Yourself a Princess???

Is it true that you slept through four hours of shopping with Mema and mommy, including Bloomingdales?
Yes, aren't you proud of me?
PROUD? What a waste of perfectly good shmying time!
What's shmying?
Nevermind. You have so much to learn, little sister.

We Like The Way You Work (It!) Daddy

Daddy headed back to work today. Mommy and I were very sad to see him go after two weeks of enjoying his company.

I said 'adieu' to you and mommy then I had the special treat of going to school with daddy on his way downtown to his new office.

I'm looking forward to October, when I'm in your carpool!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

The rain this weekend reflected our sad mood as we said some farewells:

I said goodbye to one of my favorite teachers - Miss Wendy - who is heading back to school herself. Not sure why she couldn't just stay and take classes with the Penguins.

In anticipation of daddy going back to work after paternity leave, I strummed our blues away on the guitar.

What's with these goodbyes? I said hello to Hara, Brian, and Brielle...

...and to Thi and Mike who came all the way from Brooklyn to hold me.

You're right. I said 'hello' to my friend Alex who brought his parents over so we could make dinner (and I think they wanted to meet Daria).

Then we fed my baby. I thought I was your baby?

The highlight of this very rainy weekend was my acquisition of a new princess umbrella. I'm still getting the hang of it.

I'm pretty sure you're going to get wet if you don't turn it over...there you go.

Not sure why you need an umbrella, anyway. I'm pretty accustomed to the moisture, first the amniotic fluid and now the rain - what fun would life be like without it?
Well, thanks to my new parapluie and daddy's shoulders, I, too, have a whole new perspective on precipitation: it's not so bad afterall.

Week 2 for Number 2

I had to work pretty hard to keep up with all of the things that Liana had done by week two. While I haven't met as many relatives and friends as she did, I spent a lot of daddy's paternity leave eating and drinking. I went out for coffee with Celena and Linnea...

...had all-you-can-eat (or in my case -drink) Indian buffet with mommy and daddy...

...enjoyed lunch at the Boat Basin...

...and had dinner with Mema and Grandpa.

There are still plenty of things I can't do. Even "Jamaica Baby" can take a bath with Liana.
I would love for you to come play with me in the bath. You're way more fun than "Jamaica Baby" but it will be hard for me to hold up your head while shampooing mine!

But there's nothing like cuddling up with mommy.

No wonder I was so sleepy and cranky by my actual two-week birthday!
