Touch a Truck and a New Cousin

While Daria was at home eating, pooping and sleeping (does she do anything else?), BoMa, BoPa and daddy took me out for driving lessons at the Touch-a-Truck Festival.

Mommy promised me a driving toy, but I wasn't expecting a fire truck.

We also sat in an ambulance and a police car and a garbage truck, then I went to catch something for dinner, only to find out we don't eat octopus.

The next day at home, some cousins came over to touch Daria. She may have been more entertaining to hold than the fish I caught yesterday.

Don't sound so surprised that I'm so much fun to hold. Might I point out that Liana did a lot of eating, pooping and sleeping (and still does!)?

Home Sweet Home

Mommy and daddy dressed me in the smallest footed jammies they could find to come home from the hospital. I was so snug in my carseat that I slept for a record six hours.

I slept through my first breath of fresh New York City air...

...and missed the photos on our front door that BoMa and BoPa hung to welcome me home. Check out the masterful drawing on the green sign. I wonder who made that?

Great Uncle Roger and Great Aunt Marcia came all the way from New Jersey to meet me. If you knew how close New Jersey was, you wouldn't be that impressed.

And my big sister started teaching me how to be a baby, which I'm not sure she's such an expert at - sample size of one! I used to be a baby and I was an exceptional one so you have quite a bit to learn, little sis.

Day One for Number Two

When I was in mommy's tummy, since they didn't know whether I'd be a boy or a girl, I was simply referred to as #2. Not like a College Board-approved pencil or Derek Jeter, but as mommy and daddy's second child, it seemed simple enough. Now that I've arrived, I know that I'm numero uno despite a big sister with an even bigger personality, but since I intend to be the bolder one, from here on out, my entries will be in bold.

Four of the people I was luckiest to meet on my first day were BoMa, BoPa, Mema and Grandpa. They seem like exceptional grandparents and I look forward to being spoiled by them.

My mommy is a little sister like me, though she has two big brothers and no big sister. Uncle Andy is her biggest brother. I'm so happy that he and Aunt Barbra now live in New York, just blocks from the hospital. They got to meet me on my first day, whereas Liana didn't get
introduced to them until she was much, much older - like six days!

Uncle Spencer is mommy's littler big brother, though he seemed bigger to me than Uncle Andy. Maybe it's just his personality. I made a point of sticking my tongue out at him to see if he had a sense of humor - which he does.

Aunt Julie is a big sister who has a little sister, so I have a feeling she has a lot to teach Liana.

Family of Four

Welcome to our new blog. Now that there are four of us, we need to do things a bit differently around here.

Just so you remember how life was before, here's the last post from the old blog:

Tonight at 7:15 p.m., daddy and I took mommy to Mount Sinai because her water broke (I didn't know it was so fragile). At 11:05 p.m., while I was fast asleep at Mema and Grandpa's, my little sister, Daria Amalie, arrived. She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. I'm told she arrived every bit as enthusiastically as I did two years ago. Isn't she cute???

While she isn't talking much yet, if Daria is anything like me, she'll need a way to tell you our family comings and goings from her little sister perspective. In an effort to ensure she doesn't steal my thunder, we've agreed to co-author a new blog entitled Sibling Scribbling. Please visit us there! Much love, Liana
