We're in a Sunshine State

In preparation for our trip to Fort Lauderdale, we practiced packing our bags...with ourselves. But why do you keep saying we're taking the car?


When we got on the actual plane, one of us studied the safety card in the seat pocket in front of her, while the other concentrated on the Cartoon Network.


While mommy was working, we were lucky to spend a lot of quality time with our Nana, who hosted a mini pool party at her complex.


In return, we introduced her to one of our favorite foods--chicken fingers! (Check out the vintage photo of daddy, Aunt Abi, and Cousin Josh over my left shoulder.)


Still, there was lots of work to be done, so we joined mommy at her company breakfast. We were happy to see Hal, one of our most loyal readers, who is very down-to-earth (in this case, literally).


After a tough day of work, we reunited and took a stroll on the boardwalk...


Then we hit the pool at the hotel to show off our kicks and our "eyes-and-bubbles."


This is how I like to relax.


Even babies work up quite a thirst in this Florida heat.


Where are the papparazzi when you need them?


We had a great time. Fortunately we had the plane ride home to catch up on rest.

New Year, New Ton

We headed up to Newton for the New Year's weekend. It was a long weekend, so we got to see lots of friends and family, including BoMa, BoPa, Aunt Abi, Melissa, Josh, Rachel, and Nora and her parents.


We also got to see some of our scalier friends at the New England Aquarium, which daddy says is unchanged since he was a kid. (Yikes, those penguins must be old.)


Why does daddy keep calling them "meat without feet"?


We had a great weekend. Now it's back to school. (Nice one, sis!)

Hey Nineteen

It's my favorite Steely Dan song and the number Liana uses whenever she talks about how old you have to be to be an adult, so it's no surprise that I enjoy turning 19 months. Can life get any better?

There's Snow Place Like Home

After the CMOM, we headed home to enjoy the blizzard (not a tornado, but close, with more than two feet of white stuff), and awoke to find that there was no school for us, and no work for mommy. Ya-ya, I have a feeling we're not in autumn any more!

Wizard of Ahhs

In advance of the snow, mommy and daddy took us to see the Wizard of Oz exhibit at CMOM. Unfortunately, we had to ride through a tornado to get there.


The exhibit was so much fun. We went through Dorothy's house, made a horse of a color and then a different color and then a different color (you get the idea), and were very courageous in the lion's tunnel. Not bad for a couple of munchkins, right?


Mommy and daddy think they're in charge, but we all know who's really pushing all the buttons (including theirs).


Once we'd had enough brains, courage, and heart, we joined New York's Bravest for a bit of fire-fighting.


Finally we were done and could go someplace like which there is no other place. Sounds complicated, can't we just go home? Ok.

Lobbying for Entertainment

With a blizzard in New York today, and more than ten inches of snow expected, we had to resort to indoor recreation. Fortunately our lobby is large enough to accommodate a serious tricycle ride (aka push).

A Tree Grows in Manhattan

In March 2008, we took Mema and Grandpa to see the apartment in which we now live. The very first thing Grandpa noticed was that the "tree" outside our bedroom windows was dead and he made a point of mentioning it several times. Daddy called 311 several times during the following months to request that the deceased be removed and replaced. Well, nearly three years later, the City finally came through. We woke up on December 3, 2010 to deafening drilling, only to see three men in hard hats digging up our tree pit.


Three weeks later, we noticed a beautiful new sapling. Not to be too "sappy," but it was as if Grandpa wanted to make sure we had all the carbon dioxide we needed. So behold - our very first Christmas tree photo!! We hope to capture this little addition to our neighborhood every year, so you can watch it, and us, grow.

Eve-n Better than Christmas

Before we could head off for the long holiday weekend, we had a little work to finish at mommy's office.


Mommy and daddy had Christmas Eve day off, so we bundled each other up and headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.


Then we spent some time with Abigail and Henry at the Ancient Playground. I don't know why they call it that. The tire swing was just like new!


Then we had dinner with our cousins...


...who recently adopted two kittens: Desmond and Molly, who is featured here learning the guitar from Charlotte, so she can accompany herself since, as the lyrics say, she is "a singer in a band."

Hey, your jammies are almost as adorable as mine!


As you may have noticed, mommy and daddy make a point of not dressing us in matching outfits. For some reason, this Chanukah we got identical footsie PJs which we thought would be fun to wear together tonight.


It made for a perfect photo shoot...complete with an on-screen kiss.

Holy Moly Holidays

Leo's mommy hosted an incredible holiday playdate. One of the highlights were snowman marshmallow cupcakes. They were eye-poppingly gorgeous!!


Not to mention that the frosting was worthy of a yoga pose...


Look mommy, no hands.


On the subject of hands, since Vanessa grew up in London, she got those British poppers, which mommy and I put our hands to work on (while I looked on...yes those are my cheeks!)


Speaking of cheeks, when Ari (and his cute cheeks) came to visit, I put my tushie on the school bus so he could give me a pushie.

Happy Clownukah

While it's hard to top my original "Careful Candles Chanukah," we tried hard each of the eight nights, many of which we shared with cousins...


...and aunts and uncles...


...and of course, Mema.


We like to think of her as our very own Grandma the Clown.


She sure knows how to make me smile. Happy Chanukah!

Boy Story 3

While Disney Pixar has been busy with its three-quel, Aunt Catharine and Uncle Thadeous introduced their third in a series as well - Baby Leo.


He joins Sorin and Rian in extensive trouble-making and fun-having. Speaking of fun, we had a lot of it decorating Chanukah cookies...


...and then eating them. Delicious!!


To daddy's delight, the boys invited me to explore their bunk bed. In a few more years, that may not be an offer I'm allowed to accept.

Perfect: Head On or In Profile

Since it's once again time for a new profile, we thought we'd archive the current one:

After more than a year, we're certain there's nothing more fun than being sisters! One of us has more than three years of life experience from which to draw, while the other has a more BOLD perspective. (And check out Liana's earlier musings - before sister Daria arrived - at lianayael.blogspot.com.)

A "Dairy" Happy Birthday and A Half

Happy birthday and a half, little sister. These past eighteen months have been out of this world, so we took you to the planetarium to celebrate. Unfortunately you only saw the universe inside your eyelids since you slept through the entire visit.


I thought the past year and a half was quite a ride, wasn't it? Say cheese!


Speaking of cheese, we got to make our own pizza.


Then, despite the impending arrival of winter, we gave you a proper celebration, complete with cake....


...and more cake...


...and then ice cream!


After sharing all these months, I needed a dessert of my own, so I stole daddy's hot fudge sundae when he wasn't looking.


Our quick visit to Dr. Y this week included a weigh-in (fortunately, despite all our desserts, we're still svelte) and a few inoculations (weren't we both so brave?) to ensure several hundred more half birthdays.


I was so exhausted that I fell asleep midway through our memory game. Pajama Baby also looked pretty tushed (oops, I mean bushed).
