Wild Animals

To celebrate the end of the school year, we went with some of my friends to Riverside Park for a picnic. Before you knew it we were rolling around in the grass and mud and laughing our tushies off.


I was having a good time, too, but I wasn't willing to get grass-stains on my tushie!


Fortunately, Max invited me to a party to meet some real wild animals. I started by finally getting to shake hands with a skink, an animal I thought was imaginary when I first read about in one of my favorite books. I shared many fascinating facts with my little sister after the party. The first was that skinks' tongues are purple.


I also got to pet a giant tortoise. Fascinating fact: these animals move surprisingly fast considering that's not how they beat the speedy hare in the famous fable.


I'm not in this video, but it was too cool not to share. Fascinating fact: I jump if you spray my tushie too.


But maybe the best part was riding the bus home with Daya (which took 30 minutes to come, and we were running around like animals). Fascinating fact: Don't forget, sis, that your middle name means "ibex."

Higher Profile

In keeping with our tradition of updating our profile semi-annually, the time has come to retire the fall shot of us in our new shades (hopefully distracting you from my crazy hairdo!). But for posterity...


And our profile description: Now that we've spent nearly two years outshining one another, it's hard to say which of us is more of a superstar. Big sister, Liana, has spent nearly four years acquiring wit and wisdom, while little sis, Daria, has established a BOLDER presence in less than two. We celebrated my sister's birthday in Two-port. The festivities began with chocolate chip "pair-cakes" for breakfast.

Who's Your Birth-daddy?

In anticipation of daddy's birthday, mommy invited a few friends and family over for a formal affair.

While you can dress him up, daddy is really quite a kid at heart. I thought you were going to say he was just a big clown. Don't let that hat fool you, he's still learning the ropes, I mean the balloons...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY. We love you!!

Quadcycle, Now That I'm Four

For my birthday, Mema took me shopping for my first bicycle. I'm a bit confused since I thought bikes were supposed to have two wheels and somehow we picked out one that has four. Two of them are evidently for "training" though I like to think that since Daria now has my tricycle, I got a quadcycle since I'm bigger. We're both learning to ride our new wheels!

Too Sick to Fish??

Daddy was off today from work and school said I was too sick to come in (what a coinkidink!) so we spent a day together. Lunch at the diner...


...followed by a fishing trip at CMOM (especially ironic since my class, which wouldn't permit me to play today, is the Fishies).


Wow - I feel better already!

Mother of a Day

Today was both mommy's birthday and Mother's Day, so we gathered our favorite materfamilias and went to brunch, then the park. I think it was the kids who had the most fun.


I, for one, was jumping (sort of) for joy.


I was split between whether I enjoyed our morning events or dinner with my mommy and her mommy at the new Tamarind Tribeca.


It's a good thing we were there, or who would have helped mommy blow out and lick her candles?

Party Like it's 2009

We celebrated my second birthday by getting a few friends together to sing, dance, and eat cake. Even mommy got into the act.


It's clear where she got her axe skills from.

Rev(lon) Your Engines

Today we put on our sneakers and headed down to Times Square, the starting line for the 2011 EIF Revlon Run-Walk for Women. I joined daddy's team this year, since last year we women out-fund-raised him by a factor of two. Are you planning to walk with your shirt down to there?


Even more exciting, this year Mema joined us on the walk. Even with an injured knee, she kept pace very nicely and was a wonderful addition to mommy and my team.


Speaking about keeping the pace, so far our combined donations are about 10% lower than last year. Daddy and I are ahead of you, Mema, and mommy...guess I must be the key to success! If you'd like to help in our family battle (and the battle against women's cancers) send us an e-mail and we will let you know how to contribute to our team(s) before the June 10, 2011 deadline.

One Plus One Is Two

I'm just one short month away from my second birthday, so it was important to take an 11:05 p.m. photo. Hard to believe how quickly time has flown. I remember when I turned two. Funny, that must have been before my time.

An Exodus to the Lower East Side

On the night before Passover, we got everyone together at Sammy's Roumanian for our last chametz-filled meal for a while. I'm not sure why Daria brought her Garlic-headed doll Garley, a souvenir from the Stinking Rose. There's plenty of garlic to last the whole week.


What didn't stink was the Borscht Belt stylings of Dani Luv and having all of our cousins together to sing "Bei Mir Bist du Schoen" with the waitress.


Charlotte and I enjoyed the schmaltz, both literal and figurative.

Four-tunately, I'm Four

I can't believe you turned four today, Liana! We have had a week of celebrations, with BoMa and BoPa in town.


Mommy and I baked a fantastic swimming pool cake with floating bears. I hope it tastes as fun as it looks.


The celebration went swimmingly...


...and the cake and pizza were delicious!


On my actual birthday, Mema and mommy came to school to help me and my friends decorate our own cupcakes.


I think your Monkey friends had a lot of fun.


Then it was time for candles. Happy birthday, big sister.


After school, we went to dinner with daddy to continue the festivities. I got to decorate my own pizza (do you see a theme?).


And together we blew out your candle. I am the one who is four-tunate (even though I'm not even two!).


Of course since I'm now four, I was still awake at 10:07...only 183 days until I'm 4 1/2.
