Confusing Countdown to 2012

Mommy and daddy joined us at school for the December 30th Countdown to 3 pm. We're not quite sure why this is a national holiday but we were excited to wear our new hats.

We also can't explain why apple cider in a fancy glass is called "toast," but we were happy to say cheers with our cousins.

We were also able to get the cousins to "stair" long enough to recreate last year's photo.

A Very Merry to You!

Though we weren't celebrating Christmas, we certainly found some ways to stay busy. On Christmas eve day, we went to AMNH to excavate some dinosaur bones. Can you dig it?

Christmas day had us at the Central Park Zoo's 4D showing of "The Polar Express." Even our baby dolls got into the act.

We were front-and-center for the monkeys and the sea lion show. Don't these guys ever get a day off?

At home, we made gingerbread friends for the second year in a row (thanks to Felix!)...

...and tried to take our annual tree photo, despite seeing the scaffolding forest more than the tree.

Celebrate for All Eight Nights...

These eight nights were a ten! Polly and Sophie joined the family...

...and we became zookeepers for our newly-caged (stuffed) animals.

In celebration, I danced to the Maccabeats' "Candlelight" parody. Aren't I "Dynamite"?

The Negative Second Night of Chanukah

'Twas two nights before Chanukah, and all through Uncle Spencer and Aunt Julie's house, not a candle was burning, not even a sha-mouse. The latkes were frying in the hot oil with care, in hopes that the apple sauce would soon be there.

The presents were nestled all snug in their wrapping, including my FIRE TRUCK, which got me clapping!!

As we drove back to the City and saw all the light,
"HAPPY (ALMOST) CHANUKAH TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT."

Friend-Filled Weekend

This weekend we did so many fun things with so many friends. We started on Saturday morning with a trek, I mean trip, to the Brooklyn Children's Museum to see Sophie and Jasper (and their mommy and daddy, whose wedding I took my first airplane to attend).

We made pizza and served drinks to our mommies and daddies.

Then we were off to Lilly's house where we built a house of our own - out of gingerbread cookies and lots of candy.

On Sunday we celebrated Gabrielle turning two. She really enjoyed her cake.

Big sister, Rachel, got an Ariel the mermaid balloon and I got a turtle.

Fruity Family Circus

Today mommy came on my class trip to the Big Apple Circus. Mr. Brian told us we were going to the Little Banana Circus, but orange you glad he wasn't the only chaperone?

We had so much fun. I was especially excited to see Grandma the Clown, in her final season, the [SPOILER ALERT] little girl acrobat, and when the horse lady fell into the audience. I can't wait until next year when I'm in the Monkey class and can go on the field trip.

Brianna, Hairdo I Love Thee?? Let Me Count the Ways

This weekend a little girl entered my life and changed my hairline forever. Mommy and daddy were worried that I liked twirling my hair too much, so they introduced me to a beautiful little lady whose locks will occupy my fingers for a long time to come...welcome to the family!!

Thanks-goodness It's Thanksgiving Weekend

What a busy Thanksgiving weekend!

Friday started with a long camel ride (just like the Pilgrims took, I'm sure).

We had a lovely Shabbat dinner including our newest cousin, Madeline.

On Saturday morning, we went on a date with Eli (unfortunately without his little brother Jacob) to the Liberty Science Center. It's very romantic to get a giant bubble popped in your face, no?

Saturday night we saw "The Muppets" with cousins. (Dad is still trying to get us girls to act out a Ma Nah Ma Nah with him. I'd love to see him in an orange wig!) Meantime, Daisy and I were able to have tea time at Ollie's.

On Sunday, we checked out the new DiMenna Children's Museum at the New-York Historical Society. Dad had to take the oath of office...

...and we had to work our our autobiographies.

Then it was home for the real celebration, my half birthday!

Dance Your Pants Off Thanksgiving

On Thanksgiving morning, as we waited in the fall sunshine watching the parade, daddy was most excited to look up to see the bright eyes of someone with a big grin and wide arms for hugging. Unfortunately neither of us could fit the bill quite like...

Later that evening, it was off to Uncle Andy and Aunt Barbra's where we had dinner and dancing.

Hats Off to You

Atty and I wore our Thanksgiving hats to dinner tonight. His was just "Native American" while mine was "Maleagris Gallopavo" (go ahead, click the link because you know you're curious...). Finally, I taught you something.

Hey, Baby!

BoMa and BoPa came to New York this weekend to give our adorable new cousin Madeline Jane her name. Yes, she is almost eight weeks old, but I guess they've just been referring to her as "Hey, Baby!" when they want to get her attention. It worked for you, sis.

Debunking a Bed

We have been remiss in not sharing the newest feature of our bedroom - our bunkbeds. They arrived back in September, so we are actually getting ready to celebrate their two-month birthday and they are fabulous. Thanks also to BoMa and BoPa for our new bedding!!

And for those of you who thought I was still sleeping in a crib, that's a lot of bunk!

The Boston Part of Waking Up, Is a Marshmallow in Your Cup

We spent a long weekend in Boston. On Friday, mommy went to work while daddy and BoPa took us to the MFA, where they have lots of fun kid things. Our favorite wasn't even intended for kids, but this day and night series outside. Can you guess which is which? (You may have to double-click to zoom.)

After taking a rest ourselves, we had brunch with Nora and Mary and their parents.

Meeghan made a delicious meal, one of the highlights of which was the chocolate-dipped marshmallows atop a cup of cocoa. It was best enjoyed atop the mouth, hands, cheeks and nose.

We hope that with her horse and her backpack, Nora will be ready to come to NYC soon!

Playing Hooky

Mommy and daddy took today off from work to go on a fun adventure to end an action-packed weekend. The party started on Satursday night at Leo's, where we ate the smallest ice cream cones we've ever seen. (You included, sis.)

I didn't know there was a working farm in New York City (well, outside of our room) until today, but then we went there for a visit.

Doesn't this remind you of our room after a fun day of playing?
