Five Weeks on the Road to Newport

No, it didn't take us five weeks to drive up to Newport for the 4th of July, but close. There was flash flooding on the Whitestone Expressway and these photos don't do the scene justice: people abandoning their cars because the three-lane highway was a river and no cars could pass. We exited the on ramp (with permission from the NYPD of course) and crept our way along on city streets.


It was a long drive, though, and while we were on the road, I turned five weeks old (hence the title).
