Big P, Little P, What Begins With P?

Pediatrician: Today we visited the doctor for my three-month check-up. I weighed 13 pounds and have grown to 23.5 inches. That's the same height I was, but you're a bit heavier...

Potential Pulmonologist: Your heart and lungs sounded good to me.

Penguins: Today we said goodbye to my classroom since next week I become a Firefly!

Picnic: Fried chicken, potato chips, and watermelon at school, what could be bad?

Photogenic Phriends: (a little artistic license) Linnea's family sure is adorable!

P, p, P. Thanks, Dr. Seuss.

Meeting of the Little Sisters

At long last I got to meet Aunt Abi, daddy's little sister.

She brought Melissa with her all the way from San Francisco.

Fortunately Abi shares daddy's love of frozen deliciousness. L'chai(ce-crea)m!

Head, Shoulders, Thumbs and Toes

Check out my HEAD-lifting during tummy time!

Daddy's SHOULDERS are quite extraordinary.

Today I really discovered my THUMB.
Pretty impressive that you found yours almost a month earlier than I figured out how to suck mine (though I'm still perfecting my technique).

My TOES are definitely more adorable than mommy's (despite her french pedicure).

Friends of Prehistoric Proportions

Our buddy Beckett brought his parents from Atlanta to meet me. Their visit began with a visit to Dinosaur Park because Beck is a serious dinoholic.

Mommy, daddy, "Aunt" Logan and "Uncle" Brian had a date night out (which I was lucky enough to attend, ahem, sleep through), so Beckett and I enjoyed our own romantic dinner together.

The next morning, I took photos of Beckett's 'dino-car' with my camera.

Then we took turns squeezing (why does mommy insist on calling it "cracking") eggs for waffles with "Uncle" Jamie and "Aunt" Celena.

We also had yummy cake to celebrate "Aunt" Logan's birthday. Evidently she's only three (and mommy forgot the candle for good luck).

Speaking of good luck, that's what was needed to get four kids, ages three and under, to smile for a photo. It's no surprise that the three of you were more interested to look at me than to look at the camera.

We sisters are always up for a photo op...it's our friends who are easily distracted!

Six Ways of Celebrating Oscar

Today Oscar turned six. Here are six different ways we helped him to celebrate:

1. Swinging on the hammock (why wasn't I invited?)

2. Feeding bagels to the swan (you forgot the lox and cream cheese)

3. Hula hooping (wow, you're good at that!)

4. Swimming in the lake (don't you have to wet your tummy for it to be "swimming"?)

5. "Dirt cake" for dessert (let them eat cake, or is it dirt?)

6. Lots and lots and lots of baseball (after all, what better way to celebrate our cousin? Happy Birthday, Oscar!!!)

Today is also "Uncle" Josh's birthday, but we were too lazy to travel to Boston (or to come up with 34 creative ways to celebrate him). But it's not as if he's made the trip to NYC to meet me yet, so maybe next year.

Sibling Dribbling???

Despite your best efforts to feed me, I really don't like my bottle very much. Isn't there another way??

Well, once you have better head control you can try drinking from a glass.

In the meantime, JamaicaBaby and I will get reading up on some alternatives.

Dog Days of Summer

Unfortunately during these dog days of summer our canine (table) companion hit the deck and we had to bid farewell to Rosco. He will be missed (most especially by daddy!)

Get Into the Swing of Things

I love that we're a family that swings together, don't you?

It sure feels like I'm getting pushed into all these ups-and-downs.

Heels Over Head Celebration

Today we visited Rian and Sorin to belatedly honor their birthdays. They turned one and four back in April and May, but they wanted to wait until I arrived to celebrate properly - which involved some of us standing on our heads (those of us who can't stand, didn't even try).

D
espite the fact that so much of her experience has been with boys, "Aunt" Catharine knew how to hold me just right (upright)!

See One('s Mommy), Do One(self), Teach One('s Sister)

Since I'm two, I know how to do a lot of things and there is so much you can learn from me. Maybe if mommy let me shampoo your hair you wouldn't fuss so much. You mean that when my head is submerged, no one will hear me fussing? Well, my baby likes bathtime.

Peek-a-boo is so entertaining, but you need to get the scarf just so...
You know your perfectionism takes the spontaneity out of an otherwise fun game, don't you?

And then there is how to stand up and walk in daddy's shoes. Yes, please do let me know when you figure that out.

You can push me, but no bumpily-bumps. OK, but make sure you pump your legs.

Excuse me, Miss Liana, may I ask a question? You just did.

Ha, ha! How do you give kisses? Like this!

And squeezie hugs? This is proper technique.

At the end of a long day of learning, it's important to take a proper rest. Yes, and fortunately I can still curl up in our stroller.

Land of Milk and Bunny

Linnea and her parents took us to the New Jersey State Fair. First, we had to fuel up (get it?) at a car-themed restaurant. Too bad I could only drink milk.

But there was plenty for you at the fair. Can someone count the lactators in this photo? That's ridiculous. I'm telling your mamma-ry!

Here are some cute chicks:

Liana, you look like you've forgotten everything you learned about lactation. Get reading! What does a goat say? Maa! Maa! Maa-mmary!

Daddy was trying to out-do last year's "best udder contest" in the Ocean State. Evidently in the Garden State they do a competition about man parts. No milk production here.

Here I am acting out one of my favorite books. Can I "wear mummy's ring?"

How come we have to wait until next year to go back? No fair!

Wild, Wonderful Weekend!

BoMa and BoPa spent a lovely long weekend in New York.

You looked very excited when you heard that we would be going to the zoo!

While there, BoPa and I petted a cool cat...actually it was an icy penguin.

We watched the sea lions eat lunch (though I slept through most of it).

Astrid joined us for a picnic and clown concert in Riverside Park. She taught me to dip my pretzels in guacamole. Again, I slept through the event despite some of the tuba playing. Princess Penny wasn't the kind of royalty I had in mind, even if she did bring a Mr. Softee truck.

On Sunday, Suzy and Ari (and Dan) were wonderful brunch hosts and Suzy held you like she knew what she was doing.

T
hat was fun, but I really enjoyed my first horsie ride - thanks Ari!
